NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (March 27, 2019) Boatswain’s Mate 3rd Class Laura Taylor, from Early Branch, South Carolina, a Sailor assigned to the deck team aboard the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS George Washington (CVN 73), reads a poem during a women’s history month event hosted by the heritage committee floating accommodation facility. George Washington is undergoing refueling complex overhaul (RCOH) at Newport News Shipyard. RCOH is a nearly four-year project performed only once during a carrier’s 50-year service life that includes refueling of the ship’s two nuclear reactors, as well as significant repair, upgrades and modernization.
