Theile Fred Harvey, a U.S. Marine Corps veteran who served in the Battle of Iwo Jima points to the beach where he landed during the battle during the 74th Reunion of Honor on Iwo To, Japan March 23, 2019. Harvey was awarded the Silver Star for actions during the battle and also served in the Battle of Vella Lavella, and the Bougainville and Solomon Island Campaigns. Dozens of U.S. World War II veterans, and veterans of the Battle of Iwo Jima took part in the 74th Reunion of Honor. Held annually it is a testament to the strength of the U.S.-Japan Alliance, which has been the cornerstone of peace and security in the Indo-Pacific for over 60 years.
