Marines with 2nd Amphibious Assault Battalion drive an amphibious assault vehicle into the water en route to the USS Wasp during the battalion's first day of Exercise Bold Alligator 2012, Feb. 2. AAVs are equipped with a 40mm grenade launcher, a .50-caliber machine gun and can hold up to 24 Marines in support of amphibious operations.
