The Townley sisters, Diane Nichols, Suzie Hall, and Janet Lewis receive a brief about the recovery operations of their father Roy F. Townley, who was accounted for Dec. 20, 2018, during a Chain of Custody Ceremony held at the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency (DPAA) Mar. 18, 2019. Townley, an Air-America co-pilot, and his crew were on a routine resupply mission when their aircraft went down over Laos Dec. 27, 1971. After 48 years, a DPAA team, recovered the remains and brought them back where DNA testing was completed, and the sisters were notified of their father’s identification. The mission of DPAA is to provide the fullest possible accounting for missing personnel their families and the nation. (U.S. Air Force photo by Staff Sgt. Leah Ferrante)
