SAN DIEGO (March 15, 2019) — Sailors assigned to the amphibious assault ship USS Makin Island (LHD 8) stand in formation during a change of command ceremony held in the ship’s well deck. During the ceremony, Capt. Christopher Westphal relieved Capt. David Oden as the commanding officer. Makin Island, homeported in San Diego, is conducting a depot-level maintenance availability.
