ATSUGI, Japan (Mar. 14, 2019) – Combat Aircrew One, assigned to the “War Eagles” of Patrol Squadron (VP) 16, conducts mission planning with members of the Japanese Maritime Self-Defense Force (JMSDF), prior to participating in a trilateral anti-submarine warfare (ASW) exercise with the JMSDF and the United Kingdom’s Royal Navy at Naval Air Facility Atsugi. VP-16 is deployed to the U.S. 7th Fleet (C7F) area of operations conducting maritime patrol and reconnaissance operations in support of Commander, Task Force 72, C7F, and U.S. Pacific Command objectives throughout the Indo-Asia Pacific region.
