SAN DIEGO (March 11, 2019) – Aviation Boatswain’s Mate (Handling) Airman Recruit Javier Perez, from Austin, Texas, performs a mechanical advantage control hold take-down of Master-at-Arms 3rd Class Sheldon Limehouse, from Long Island, N.Y., after being sprayed with oleoresin capsicum (OC) spray, also known as pepper spray, during naval security force sentry (NSFS) training. Sailors assigned to the amphibious assault ship USS Makin Island (LHD 8) are required to participate in NSFS training prior to earning weapons qualifications.
