The words “Go Ask the Chief” … have resounded throughout the U.S. Coast Guard since the establishment of the enlisted rank of Chief Petty Officer.
The next generation of E-7s began their journey toward being thoroughly indoctrinated Chiefs March 1, 2019, with a kick-off aboard the USS Missouri in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. Missouri was the last battleship commissioned by the United States and is best remembered as the site of the surrender of the Empire of Japan which ended World War II. The Chiefs were the backbone of the Sea Services then and remain so now. (U.S. Coast Guard photo by Chief Petty Officer Sara Muir/Released)
