Command Sergeant Major Catherine Farrell gives the Command Sergeant Major Coin of Excellence to the daughter of Capt. Amie Kemppainen following a ceremony where Kemppainen took command of Company B, 126th Infantry.
By taking this command, Kemppainen has earned the distinction of being the first female infantry commander in the Michigan National Guard and one of the first in the United States Army.
