During Silver Scimitar 2012, exercise director Col. Robert Kay, 3rd Human Resources Sustainment Center, heads the daily battle update briefing on Jan. 24. Silver Scimitar 2012 is the “tip of the spear” for human resources professionals, pushing out cutting edge technology, and the latest in doctrine and skills-based training scenarios. Both civilian and military instructors from different Department of Defense and government agencies convened at Fort Devens to support over 500 HR soldiers in postal services, casualty operations, personnel management and other HR functions. “That’s the significance of Silver Scimitar, that’s the diversity of Silver Scimitar …” said Master Sgt. Porter Washington, a trainer from the National Guard Bureau who specializes in personnel operations. “… The human resources professional touches every part of the Army.”
