Andrew Clements, left, an artillery fire support Marine with the 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit, helps Petty Officer 3rd Class, Emilie Evans, disassemble an M9 pistol during small arms weapons training aboard the Wasp-class amphibious assault ship USS Kearsarge (LHD-3). Sailors attached to the 22nd MEU assembled, disassembled and discussed technical data regarding common Marine Corps small arm weapons in preparation for earning a Fleet Marine Force Warfare Insignia. Marines and Sailors with the 22nd MEU and Kearsarge Amphibious Ready Group are deployed to the 5th Fleet area of operations in support of naval operations to ensure maritime stability and security in the Central Region, connecting the Mediterranean and the Pacific through the western Indian Ocean and three strategic choke points.
