Corporal Brendan T. McDowell, a native of Deer Park, Long Island, New York State, is a construction wireman for the Communications Department, and is the 2018 Marine of the Year for Marine Corps Logistics Base Barstow, California. McDowell volunteers his time working with the Single Marine Program as well as a military cadet program at a Hesperia-area high school. He plans on making a career of the Corps.
