Darius Wakefield (right), a medic assigned to the Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 2nd Battalion, 8th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, adjusts the straps of a portable stretcher around a casualty, at Camp Buehring, Kuwait on Jan 13. The straps must be secured when transporting a casualty to prevent further injury, a skill a medic must know and accomplish when competing for the tile of Best Medic during the Best Medic Competition hosted by the Stallions.
