U.S. Marine Corps Sgt. Ruben Villescaz, a sauqd leader from the Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) Yuma Marksmanship Training Unit, teaches a class about terrain models to non-commisioned officers (NCOs) from MCAS Yuma, Ariz., Feb. 7, 2019 as a part of "Operation Backbone." Operation Backbone is a quarterly unit exercise meant to strengthen the warrior's spirit in the non-commisioned officers (NCOs) and promote cohesion between them. The exercise consisted of a hike with the Headquarters and Headquarters Squadron (H&HS) commanding officer and acting sergeant major, several classes, and a warriors night. Classes included simulated room clearing training, terrain model training, improvised explosive devices (IED) training, and the Family Advocacy Program on station sent out a representative to talk to the NCOs about leadership.
