U.S. Army Reserve Spc. Eric Garibay, a HMMWV gunner with the 242nd Quartermaster Company, based in Conroe, Texas, seeks targets while wearing a M40 field protective mask on a live-fire range during Operation Cold Steel III at Fort Hunter Liggett, Calif., on February 10, 2019. Vehicle crew members practice wearing chemical-protective gear to gain familiarity and be prepared for wartime conditions. Operation Cold Steel III trains and qualifies Army Reserve Soldiers on M2 .50 caliber machine guns, M19 40 mm automatic grenade launchers and M240 7.62 mm machine guns weapons systems in ground and mounted military vehicles, in order to provide lethal and combat ready units ready to deploy anywhere in the world.
