190210-M-YD783-1030 ARABIAN SEA (Feb. 10, 2019) U.S. Marines Corps Cpl. Steven Dinh, an infantry Marine with the 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit, stands at attention in front of his Promoting Officer Capt. Michael Moore before his promotion to the rank of corporal aboard the USS Kearsarge (LHD-3). The Marine, attached to 1st Battalion, 2nd Marine Regiment, was promoted to noncommissioned officer in a ceremony on the Kearsarge's flight deck. Marines and Sailors with the 22nd MEU and Kearsarge Amphibious Ready Group are deployed to the 5th Fleet area of operations in support of naval operations to ensure maritime stability and security in the Central Region, connecting the Mediterranean and the Pacific through the western Indian Ocean and three strategic choke points.
