190202-N-KT659-1055 U.S. 5TH FLEET AREA OF OPERATIONS (Feb. 2, 2019) Naval Aircrewman (Mechanical) 2nd Class Hans Lara, assigned to the “Grey Knights” of Patrol Squadron (VP) 46, covers an intake on a P-3C Orion anti-submarine warfare patrol aircraft after flight. VP-46 is currently deployed to the U.S. 5th Fleet and U.S. 7th Fleet areas of operations in support of Operation Inherent Resolve. While in this region, VP-46 is supporting naval operations to ensure maritime stability and security in the Central Region, connecting the Mediterranean and the Pacific through the western Indian Ocean and three strategic choke points.
