Iraqi Counter-Terrorism Service Basic Leader Course (BLC) students move toward their training objective during a practical exercise that combined lessons in land navigation, conducting squad movement, and reacting to contact near Baghdad, Iraq, Feb. 5, 2019. BLC is led by Iraqi instructors with assistance from Coalition forces and prepares enlisted CTS soldiers to take leadership roles at the team and squad levels by teaching leadership, training, and warfighting concepts and skills. Coalition forces advise and assist the Iraqi instructors in a united effort to build an elite, self-sustaining force that can secure Iraq’s sovereign borders, protect the population and ensure the lasting defeat of ISIS.
