Michael Moore, an infantry officer with the 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit, watches as Marines fast rope from a CH-53E Super Stallion onto the flight deck of the Wasp-clasp amphibious assault ship USS Kearsarge (LHD 3). Marines with 1st Battalion, 2nd Marine Regiment took part in the training to practice and advance their fast rope skills. Marines and Sailors with the 22nd MEU and Kearsarge Amphibious Ready Group are deployed to the 5th Fleet area of operations in support of naval operations to ensure maritime stability and security in the Central Region, connecting the Mediterranean and the Pacific through the western Indian Ocean and three strategic choke points.
