U.S. Air Force Maj. Ivan Acosta, embarked High Speed Vessel (HSV 2) Swift - Southern Partnership Station 2012 (HSV-SPS 12) jumps off a tower performing a parachutist exercise during a tour of the General Felipe Cruz paratrooper base. The paratroopers are an elite group of Guatemalan military service members and are working with HSV-SPS for 10 days to build partnerships and camaraderie among U.S. service members and Guatemalan troops. HSV-SPS is an annual deployment of U.S. ships to the U.S. Southern Command's area of responsibility in the Caribbean, Central and South America. This mission involves sharing information between local host countries' navies, coast guards and civilian services throughout the region.
