Joshua Bradley, a flight line mechanic with the 22nd Marine Expeditionary inspects the left nacelle, or streamlined enclosure, of an MV-22 Osprey before removing its prop rotor gear box in the hanger bay of the Wasp-class amphibious assault ship USS Kearsarge (LHD 3). Flight line mechanic Marines with Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 264 (Reinforced) routinely perform maintenance on their aircrafts to ensure the vessels will be ready to fly when called upon. Marines and Sailors with the 22nd MEU and Kearsarge Amphibious Ready Group are deployed to the 5th Fleet area of operations in support of naval operations to ensure maritime stability and security in the Central Region, connecting the Mediterranean and the Pacific through the western Indian Ocean and three strategic choke points.
