The Blackhorse of the Week is Spc.Yuhai Zhu, from Flushing, New York. He is a petroleum supply specialist with the 247th Quartermaster Company, 529th Sustainment Battalion, 300th Sustainment Brigade.
Why is this Soldier the Mustang of The Week? Spc. Zhu is a highly motivated Soldier who is essential to the mission at the Erbil Forward Logistic Element and supports Counter-ISIS Train and Equipment Fund (CTEF) operations. His great work ethic and passion for learning has led to mission success and an early promotion to Specialist. He has excelled by providing assistance to anyone who needs it, both on and off duty. Spc. Zhu also volunteered to take on an additional duty as the mail handler for Erbil. His selflessness has earned him great respect from his superiors and his peers. Spc. Zhu’s commitment and dedication to support the mission is shown through all of his efforts and leadership qualities displayed throughout his time on deployment.
The Blackhorse of The Week Award is presented to Soldiers that show outstanding service, dedication to duty, and leadership throughout the Sustainment Brigade, area of operations. Each Soldier selected is presented with a certificate and coin.
