Ewa Beach, HI (05 July 2018) - The 2018 JTWC joint services summer interns tour the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center (PTWC) in Ewa Beach, HI. PTWC assesses and models earthquake-generated tsunami threats for countries along the Pacific Rim with the exception of the western coasts of the United States and Canada. JTWC repackages these messages in response to sufficiently strong earthquakes that have the potential to generate a tsunami, sending an easy-to-interpret format for use by Department of Defense decision makers to ensure resource protection for bases and assets.
