Jake Zalesky, a motor transportation operator with Support Company, 9th Engineer Support Battalion, 2nd Marine Logistics Group (Forward), sets his book aside to prepare for a convoy in Shir Ghazay, Afghanistan, Dec. 22. Zalesky was an avid lacrosse and hockey player in high school and gave up the chance at an athletic scholarship to join the Marine Corps.
