DLA Troop Support Industrial Hardware’s first Material Planner Training Team poses for a photo after touring DLA Distribution’s Eastern Distribution Center Nov. 27, 2018 in New Cumberland, Pennsylvania. According to IH’s material planner training team lead Eric Williams, partnering with Distribution for an end-to-end overview of how planners’ jobs effect the lifecycle logistics process helps employees realize the full spectrum of their job. Distribution employees led the planners through an item’s flow from intake, to shipment, to disposal with emphasis on procedures for “frustrated freight” and “blocked stock” - items that enter the warehouse but cannot be immediately shipped – helping the visitors understand that their actions at Troop Support have tangible results in the lifecycle DLA process, Williams said.
