Mine resistant ambush protected vehicles enter through the Kuwait/Iraq border pre-dawn Dec. 18. Shortly before 3 a.m., a series of convoys left Iraq, culminating with the final convoy of Operation New Dawn entering Kuwait around 7:45 a.m. Despite the departure, the U.S. will continue to build and strengthen a mutually beneficial partnership with Iraq. Third Army facilitated the redeployment, repositioning and retrograde of more than 50,000 personnel, 28,000 pieces of rolling stock and 800,000 non-rolling items.
