As Branch Health Clinic Oceana’s Dental Department head, Lt. Cmdr. Gustavo Lores had immediate impact in a busy clinic with 6,500 enrollees and 32 staff. His efforts resulted in a significant decrease in class three and class four patients and enhancement of the patient to provider ratio by hiring two new providers. When USNS Comfort was activated, he volunteered his talents as a prosthodontist and speaker of Spanish and Portuguese, greatly enhancing accomplishment of the dental mission.
