Staff Sgt. Dakota Jordan, 135th Mobile Public Affairs Detachment, Iowa Army National Guard, practices proper form while pulling a weighted cart Jan. 5 at the Ignit Sport fitness center in Grimes, Iowa, during training for the upcoming release of the Army Combat Fitness Test (ACFT). The cart was a substitution for the weighted sled required for the “sprint, drag carry,” event of the ACFT, which includes sprinting 25 meters five times up and down a lane, dragging a 90-pound sled and hand-carrying two 40-pound kettlebell weights. The ACFT is scheduled to replace the current Army Physical Fitness Test of pushups, sit-ups and a 2-mile run. The ACFT will have six events, including: strength deadlift; standing power throw; hand release pushups; sprint, drag, carry; leg tuck; and 2-mile run. The Army announced in July 2018 the ACFT will become the physical fitness test of record no later than October 2020. (Army National Guard photo by Spc. Lisa Crawford)
