More temporary emergency generators and related equipment is being sent to Puerto Rico. Temporary emergency generators that have been deinstalled across the U.S. Virgin Islands are loaded December 28, 2017, to be shipped to Puerto Rico, where they will be put back into service to provide temporary power at schools, hospitals, clinics, government buildings and other facilities across the territory until permanent grid power is restored. More than 175 temporary emergency generators have been installed across the territory since hurricanes Irma and Maria within two weeks of each other in September.
