U.S. Navy Seaman Mariame Cherif, a Seabee assigned to Naval Mobile Construction Battalion 1, Combined Joint Task Force-Horn of Africa, Camp Lemonnier, Djibouti, installs shower plumbing during the construction of the future Ali Oune, Djibouti, Women’s Medical Clinic, Dec. 27, 2018. Cherif speaks six languages and acts as the battalion’s translator, utilizing her French speaking skill. The clinic is intended to enhance the Ministry of Health for Djibouti’s ability to provide basic medical, birth and after care to the Ali Oune village and its more than 1,000 residents and rural neighbors.
