U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Norfolk District continues maintenance dredging of Bennett’s Creek on Dec. 17 near Suffolk, Virginia. Personnel aboard the USACE dredge Murden, on loan from neighboring Wilmington District in North Carolina, are carrying out the project. Suffolk city officials are funding the dredging effort to reduce dangerous navigational conditions, boost commercial endeavors and promote recreational activities. Completion is expected in January.
