While braving a pouring rain, Georgia Army National Guard Soldiers of the Macon-based 48th Infantry Brigade Combat Team receive a warm send off from Maj. Gen. Leopoldo Quintas, commander of the 3rd Infantry Division; Brig. Gen. Randall Simmons, commander of the Ga. ARNG and State Command Sgt. Major Shawn Lewis, senior enlisted advisor of the Ga. ARNG Dec 14, 2018 at Hunter Army Airfield, Ga. These Soldiers are among the first in the 48th IBCT to begin their final leg of mobilization to Afghanistan as part of the brigade’s fourth overseas deployment since September 11, 2001.
