Bruce Best, University of Guam researcher (right), explains his role as the telecommunication manager to Senior Airman Donald Hudson, 374th Airlift Wing photojournalist, during Operation Christmas Drop, at the University of Guam, Guam, Dec. 13, 2018. Every December, C-130 aircrews from Yokota Air Base, Japan, the Japanese Air Self-Defense Force (JASDF) and the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) head to Andersen Air Force Base, Guam, to execute Low-Cost, Low-Altitude humanitarian airdrops to islanders throughout the Commonwealth of the Northern Marianas, Federated States of Micronesia and Republic of Palau. Best has earned the call sign "Santa's Little Helper" for his ability to coordinate information between C-130 aircrew and the people who receive the humanitarian aid.
