World War II veterans Buddy Sutton and Lyle Bird are guests of honor at the Pearl Harbor Day event at the World War II Memorial, Washington, D.C., Dec. 7, 2018. Sutton and Bird traveled to Washington, D.C., with 10 other World War II veterans on an Honor Flight from Austin, Texas. Both men were in the Navy. In World War II, Suton’s responsibilities were transportation of sailors and Marines; Bird served in the Pacific Theater as a signalman and a signalman first class. (DoD photo by Lisa Ferdinando)
