JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (Nov. 15, 2018) – Juanita Belis, a perioperative nurse at Naval Hospital Jacksonville’s operating room, aseptically opens a package of sterile sutures with the scrub tech. Belis, a native of Saint Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands, says “As a perioperative nurse, you learn quickly that teamwork is of the utmost importance. We work as one and we all have to be on the same page to accomplish our patient health goals.” Perioperative Nurses Week is Nov. 11-17, highlighting the ways in which nurses are working to improve patient safety before, during, and after surgery.
