From left, James T. Burton, honorary consul for Germany, Utah Governor Gary Herbert, Dieter F. Uchtdorf, an Elder in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, and a former fighter pilot in the West German Air Force, Maj. Gen. Jefferson S. Burton, adjutant general, Utah Army National Guard, render a salute during the German National Day of Remembrance ceremony at the Fort Douglas Cemetery, Nov. 18. The annual event has been held since 1977 and pays tribute to the 41 German prisoners of war who are buried at the cemetery.
