Adam Ballard, a light armored vehicle Marine with the Light Armored Reconnaissance Det. of Battalion Landing Team 3/1, 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), cuts the birthday cake during a traditional ceremony for the 243rd United States Marine Corps Birthday aboard the San Antonio-class amphibious transport dock USS Anchorage (LPD 23), Nov. 10, 2018. The Anchorage and embarked 13th MEU are deployed to the U.S. 6th Fleet area of operations as a crisis response force in support of regional partners as well as to promote U.S. national security interests in Europe and Africa.
