A percussionist from the 257th Army Band, District of Columbia Army National Guard, performs the Tolling of the Bells of Peace on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of the year as a part of the D.C. National Guard and Association of the Oldest Inhabitants of D.C.'s ceremony honoring the 499 D.C. residents who gave the ultimate sacrifice during World War I and commemorating the centennial of Armistice Day, Nov. 11, 2018, at the D.C. War Memorial in Washington D.C. Rep. Eleanor Holmes Norton, D.C.; Phil Mendelson, chairman, D.C. Council; Maj. Gen. William J. Walker, commanding general, D.C.
