Pfc. Marcus Ransome, construction equipment repairer in B Company, 47th Brigade Support Battalion, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Armored Division, grabs a .50-caliber ammunition box containing 100 rounds during a transition live-fire exercise at McGregor Range, N.M., Oct. 27. As the gunner, Ransome was required to engage more than 20 targets along an eight-mile course moving at 25 mph. “The only thing I see is the targets. It’s like tunnel vision, boom I got [one], boom I [got another one], that’s it, there’re done,” said Ransome, a Richmond, Va., native. The transition live fire is part of the Network Integration Evaluation exercise that is testing a multitude of equipment and new technologies being considered by the Army for fielding.
