Soldiers from 47th Brigade Support Battalion, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Armored Division, test fire the .50-caliber machine gun at McGregor Range, N.M., during a transition live-fire exercise Oct. 27. The soldiers were required to engage more than 20 targets along an eight-mile course, moving at 25 mph. “I will be very confident when I go down range because I know my weapon system and how it’s supposed to be taken care of, just like it’s a baby,” said Pfc. Marcus Ransome, a Richmond, Va., native and construction equipment repairer with B Company, 47th BSB.
The transition live fire is part of the Network Integration Evaluation exercise that is testing a multitude of equipment and new technologies being considered by the Army for fielding.
