Mrs. Cebron A. Benbow (then Elizabeth Dorothy Sandelius), a Cokedale, Montana native and nurse of the Army Corps, received a citation for bravery for her contributions to the welfare and recovery of 28th U.S. Infantry Division Soldiers during World War I. Attached to a 28th U.S. Infantry Division unit during the war, she administered care to wounded Soldiers in Field Hospital 112 north of Cohan, France for eight consecutive days while under constant plane bombardment and artillery fire from the German Army. This citation was signed by 28th Infantry Division commander Maj. Gen. Charles H. Muir, for which Fort Indiantown Gap’s Muir Army Airfield is named, Dec. 10, 1919.
