Soldiers and equipment from the 63rd Expeditionary Signal Battalion, Fort Campbell, Kentucky, arrive on a C-17 Globemaster III in southern Arizona Oct. 31 in support of Operation Faithful Patriot. As directed by the Department of Defense through Army headquarters, Soldiers, equipment and resources are being deployed to assist Department of Homeland Security along the southwest border. Military personnel will provide a range of support including planning assistance, engineering support, and logistics and transportation support. U.S. Northern Command will be in the lead for the duration of the operation and is in support of Customs and Border Protection.
