U.S. Air Force Tech. Sgt. Romain Smith, 374th Civil Engineer Squadron electrical power production, measures the width of the runway prior to installing the Mobile Aircraft Arresting System (MAAS) with the help of the Koku Jietai (Japan Air Self-Defense Force) as part of bilateral training at Yokota Air Base, Japan, Oct. 25, 2018. The training allowed personnel from Iruma, Komatsu and Hyakuri Air Bases to get hands-on experience with the installation process of the MAAS, further strengthening the relationship and interoperability of the two nation’s forces.
