U.S. Army Staff Sgt. Kristopher Hookland, a crew chief assigned to 2nd General Support Aviation Battalion, 4th Combat Aviation Brigade, 4th Infantry Division, conducts medical training with Bulgarian army Sgt. Zhivko Lateu during a training exercise at Novo Selo Training Range, Bulgaria, Oct. 22, 2018. The training was in preparation for Thracian Sword 18, an ongoing multinational training exercise between U.S. and foreign partners and allies in support of North Atlantic Treaty Organization operations. Pursuing interoperability by engaging with the militaries of other nations gives our Soldiers the opportunity to learn new skills that further strengthen the bond needed to deter aggression in the region.
