As a member of Boy Scout Troop 232, Ethan Perez works to clean the statue at a memorial to the late Erick Lynch on October 6, 2018, at what is now Kaiserslautern Middle School. Lynch was a Kaiserslautern American High School student killed in a hiking accident in 1998. Ethan’s older brother Nathan led a small group of scout troop mates and their parents in the restoration project. The memorial had fallen into neglect over the years.
