ABILENE, Kansas (Oct. 13, 2018) – Lt. Blake Harpel (left) and Chief Personnel Specialist Ralph Long, both assigned to USS Dwight D. Eisenhower (CVN 69), stand in front of President Eisenhower’s boyhood home. Harpel and Long are, respectively, the General Eisenhower and President Eisenhower leadership award winners for 2018. The awards recognize their leadership and contributions to their communities, both on ship and ashore. The Sailors were invited to join the Eisenhower Foundation in Dwight D. Eisenhower's hometown of Abilene, Kansas, in celebration of their accomplishments. The weekend also involved a visit to Dwight D.
