Michael Millin, MD, MPH, Medical Officer with the National Disaster Medical System and Associate Professor of Emergency Medicine at the Johns Hopkins Department of Emergency Medicine, places a chest tube in a recently resuscitated patient at the Fort Walton Beach Medical Center following Hurricane Michael. During the procedure, he was assisted by Karrah Kightlinger, RN. Both responders are part of a NDMS Disaster Medical Assistance Team (MD-1 DMAT). DMATs are teams of medical professionals and para-professionals who help health systems respond to disasters like Hurricane Michael by providing expert patient care.
