181013-N-RJ834-0178 NORFOLK (Oct. 13, 2018) The Wasp-class amphibious assault ship USS Kearsarge (LHD 3) departs Naval Station Norfolk for the Composite Training Unit Exercise COMPTUEX. COMPTUEX is the final pre-deployment exercise that certifies the combined Kearsarge Amphibious Ready Group (ARG) and 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit's (MEU) abilities to conduct military operations at sea and project power ashore through joint planning and execution of challenging and realistic training scenarios.
