YOKOSUKA, Japan (October 10, 2018) Machinist’s Mate Weapons (Submarine) 2nd Class Ryan Monteer, from Lowell, Massachusetts, stationed aboard the Seawolf-class fast-attack submarine USS Connecticut (SSN 22), poses for a portrait on the pier at U.S. Fleet Activities Yokosuka, Japan. “My best experience serving so far is visiting the North pole,” said Monteer. “I joined the Navy to follow in my grandfather’s footsteps. My advice for Sailors considering submarine duty is to be sure that it is what you want to do and be prepared to work hard.” (U.S. Navy photo by Mass Communication Specialist 2nd Class Ryan Litzenberger/Released)
