The Hampton Roads Naval Museum, situated on the second floor of Nauticus in Downtown Norfolk, Virginia welcomed two Vietnam Era veterans to their gallery this afternoon. Laurie Grasse (seated) served during the Vietnam War in the US Marine Corps as an air traffic controller. She vividly recalled her service to AJ Orlikoff, one of the museum educators; and noted how she spent time at the White House in Washington, DC while she was in the USMC. Another Vietnam Era veteran stopped by the front desk as well during the brief encounter. Both received a commemorative Vietnam War pin and certificate for their service, and both were excited to hear about the museum’s new exhibit, which is opening in May 2019 which chronicles the US Navy’s involvement in the Vietnam War.
